Guestbook
Many of our visitors to the Bed & Breakfast at the Learning Center in Oaxaca are repeat visitors. This is what some of them have to say about their stay:
“The Bed and Breakfast at The Learning Center is a great find. We have enjoyed four long stays there, as well as booked rooms for friends. It's a great location, lovely rooms, wonderful hospitality, at a more than reasonable price, AND it supports an important non-profit project. Single women travelers in particular should consider staying here, it is safe and friendly. If only there were more places like this to stay while traveling!”
- Fred Escher and Mary Jo Vath, New York, New York, March 2008.
“I have spent several months for the past three years in Oaxaca which is a wonderful and interesting city. I have stayed at the Bed & Breakfast at the Learning Center each time. It has an exciting tutoring program for many students and I venture to say that it has changed the lives of many of these students.
For me, as a guest, it is like a second home where I feel extremely comfortable for countless reasons. I am a single woman and feel so well taken care of here. Although I love Oaxaca I would not keep returning if it were not for The Learning Center B&B which gives me a feeling of "wellbeing" and being involved in and helping support such a meaningful program.”
- Selma Cooper, Brooklyn, NY, February 2008.
“Recently, John and I spent a wonderful month in
Oaxaca at the Learning Center's apartment on Murguia Street.
From the first, we were particularly pleased to know that
our rent would subsidize academic support for young Oaxacans
studying at the Learning Center. Gary, his staff and all
the young people were consistently gracious, friendly and
helpful.
The
apartment is situated on the second floor. It has a full
kitchen, wireless Internet, cable TV (many programs are
in English with Spanish subtitles) as well as a beautiful
roof garden. Purified water for drinking and cooking is
delivered to the apartment when needed and the downstairs
washing machine is available for doing personal laundry.
Guests are invited to accompany Andres (pictured right),
the Center's cook, to market on Tuesday or Friday mornings.
The Learning Center is centrally located. It is in a very
safe neighborhood and is in easy walking distance of all
major monuments and museums. Our language school, Academia
Vinigulaza, the hub of many of our activities, was one block
away. For many reasons, we recommend a stay at the Learning
Center in Oaxaca.”
- Katharine Delventhal & John Paul Froehlich, Connecticut,
November 2007.
