The Friends of the Oaxaca Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, chartered in the state of Maine, and eligible for tax-deductible donations since May 2011.

Canadian Friends of Oaxaca (CANFRO)

CANFRO is a not-for-profit volunteer organization incorporated in the Province of Ontario and registered as a charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. Its priorities are to support education, relieve poverty, and promote health. CANFRO remains neutral towards all political and religious organizations.

CANFRO supports the academic tutoring program at the Center, which in turn enables us to sustain our services to marginalized youth in Oaxaca.

CANFRO’s Tutor Project employs university students from public institutions of higher education to provide academic tutoring, teach effective learning skills
and offer personal and social support to students who attend public junior and senior high school in Oaxaca. Tutoring will take place at the Oaxaca Learning Center.

This project has multiple benefits. It will provide income to offset tutors’ university expenses, enhance each tutor’s own academic knowledge, skills and self-esteem, strengthen the academic capacity of junior and senior high school students being tutored, and provide positive role modeling and mentoring to younger students from the same social class.

If you live in Canada and want to make a donation, go to the CANFRO website: http://canfro.ca/donate/tutor-project-donation.
